about

From what I remember, this was the first piece that I wrote after I had officially moved to Texas. I was living with my dad in his friend Tony's house and my mom and sisters were staying at the infamous Drury Inn once again until we closed on our house and we could move into our new one (Thankfully we got to stay in one of my dad's friends houses in Katy for the last two weeks before we moved into our real house, staying split apart was certainly wearing on our sanity). The day that I arrived in Texas, I was texting a very close friend of mine and she told me the story of when she tried to commit suicide. I was very taken aback when I learned this and became more depressed then I already was at the time (as you could imagine, moving 12 hours away from your friends and family takes an emotional toll on a person). Eventually, the strange mix of depression and angst made this song. It was rather late at night, and my first time really recording with my new amp. Playing with an incredibly distorted amp setting plugged into an incredibly reverb-heavy and washed out guitar effect, the very heavy and distorted guitar noise part of the track formulated itself while I was just thinking to myself about my friend's suicide attempt. When I listened back to what I had just recorded, I realized that I just recorded something that sounded somewhat... beautiful. Or at least to me, something that sounded beautiful in my emotional state. Then I quickly recorded some keyboard parts and the song just sounded perfect. This is still probably one of the most personal things I've ever released.
NOTE: I will not publicly release the name of the person who this song is about. Only 4-5 people know who it is about, and I intend to keep it that way. Thankfully, the person in question is better now.
